Tuscaloosa, Alabama is located on the south side of the Black Warrior River in West Alabama, about 60 miles southwest of Birmingham. It has a thriving economic base; The University of Alabama provides the biggest payroll, but we have additional heavy and light industry and of course the well-known Mercedes plant as well. The town of Northport faces Tuscaloosa on the north side of the river.
